The Versatile Neoprene Rubber Gaskets
Neoprene rubber is usually supplied in sheet or roll form. It is available in plain backing or with a adhesive (PSA) on 1 side. It is only available in the color black. Neoprene rubber is a lightweight material made from synthetic rubber designed to be flexible, durable, resilient and very resistant to compression and liquids such as water, salt water, alcohol, oil, detergents and other solvents. It offers good oil and abrasion resistance. Softer durometer rubber has better conformability while harder durometer rubber is more wear resistant.
A Range of Grades
There are a few different grades of neoprene gaskets available including: general multi-purpose, high-strength, ultra-strength, food grade and non marking. Also available is neoprene rubber with a crisscross texture for non slip gripping surface and also buffed texture which is rough on one side to accept adhesive. Neoprene rubber is available to ASTM and Mil Spec standards. Neoprene rubber can be used outdoors and has a 900 psi tensile strength operating at -30 degrees C to 200 degrees F.
